What do you call 5000 lawyers at the bottom of the ocean?
A good start.
Who wants to go to law school? I do, I do. I'm getting bored. Eight years in one job is the longest I've ever lasted, and bests the previous record by at least 3 years. How utterly complacent.
And why would I aspire to this profession? Herein lies the list:
- I could end my signature with lots of letters-RPh, JD
- billable hours
-specialization in the lucrative, ubiquitously litigious field of health care
-you get to use big words like ubiquitous, litigation and lucrative every day (and your coworkers won't look at you like you've just spoken to them in Basque-Icelandic pidgin)
-more I'm sure to think of later that will probably all follow the pattern (billable, lucrative, etc)
Of course, there is always the contrary list:
-you can't (most likely) wear jeans and sandals to work
-nobody hires you right out of law school to be the boss
-I am not a good schmoozer
-there's no lawyer shortage
Feel free to add your thoughts to either list, but keep this in mind- ultimately, I just want to be the judge. By order of my birth, I am destined to the position of fair and honest arbiter. More importantly, when I get to be the judge, no pants Friday could truly be
no
pants
Friday.
Exciting possibilities, eh?

Mascara Part Deux
Of course the Mac mascara is the one I like. So now I have to buy a bunch of it, because it is being discontinued.
New Goal:
I will be walking the 3 day, 60 mile fundraising walk in September or October (just haven't decided where). That means I have 7 or 8 months to train, because as my always encouraging mother asks, don't you have to be in shape to do that?

Mascara
I'm always on the hunt for the perfect mascara. It has to be at least water resistant (because my eyes water a tad when I put the contacts in) but preferably waterproof (especially if I'm on vacation and snorkeling). It can't clump or flake. Lancome is an ok standby, but it tends to flake, so I get frustrated and start searching again. The list of absolutely nots include anything Clinique, the Big Bad stuff from Benefits, Fresh, Sue Devitt, Estee Lauder, Red Earth, Smashbox and Bobbie Brown. Some funky stuff called Bourjois Pump up the Volume will do in a pinch, but it smudges. So......today I bought some MAC Loud Lash. We'll see how that works. It probably will, because after she sold it to me, the little makeup lady told me it was being discontinued (but they have tons of it left). So if I like it, I better go back and by a bunch (like Elaine and her sponges [remember Seinfeld?])

Par
The namesake of El Tigre Club de Golf
One of my annual, unspoken goals is to par at least one hole during the year. It wasn't looking so good this year, but..........one last game was to be played while on vacation last week. Being the master golfer that I am, I did it, and not just on any old hole, but the par 3 #6 hole at El Tigre Club de Golf in Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico. The hole is on an island (seen here, the green is just in front of the house), so there is a huge potential to lose many balls, which is what our partners, Joe and Adele, did. (By the way, Joe had played at every port on the cruise, and both Joe and Adele appeared to have been playing the game for many years and doing quite well at it). So, just 10 days before the end of the year, goal accomplished. I believe that deserves a toast. Slainte!
