Go Vino
Alexandre Vinokourov is currently kicking some cycling butt during his time trial this morning (TdF - it's July, remember). HIs overall standing was a mere 8 minutes and some odd seconds behind the overall leader. And as we all know from last year's tour and Floyd Landis' amazing stage 17 comeback, you can't count anyone out. How can you not root for Vino - he's got like 60 stitches in his knees and elbows and some nasty road rash on his well toned backside.

Angry sharks.....
Apparently, I'm a wealth of creativity tonight. In reality, I could never be as creative as the bossy sister, who chooses to mock my fitness goals by referring to me as Lance. Oh, wait, that's not creativity. That's the shame speaking. Losing every game of yahtzee has that effect on bossy, rule-following first-borns. Or perhaps it was just the sneezing fit.
I decided today, while riding, that I need some good bicycle riding music. Jimmy Buffett doesn't really do it, unless I want to replace the water in my bottle with Landshark beer and stop for a nap midway through the ride. Which sounds okay to me, but I'll never reach Lance status that way. Evanescence was okay, but the Weezer (ha..I typed geezer and had to correct it) song was better at helping me keep the pace. So I need more music that rawks, baby. You can gift me your suggestions through itunes.
today's numbers
miles biked: 1.6
golf holes played: 0
yahtzee games won: 2

You were expecting golf?
I know, 5-iron, my favorite club, so this must be a golf blog. It is, kind of. It's also a cycling blog, kind of. I have a goal - or two. One is to par a hole, the other is to be cycling 80 miles a week by the time snow falls. The biking goal is probably the more attainable goal, since I've been working on the golf one for a few years.
I bought a bike, a Schwinn, but I'm not going to upgrade until I'm sure this isn't a passing obsession. Besides, I also bought irons this year - Callaway Big Berthas, graphite shaft. I can't make 2 big sports purchases in one year.
So, maybe this blog will help me keep on track for my 80 miles a week thing. Because really, I live quite the sedentary life. I would prefer reading or beating my sister (the bossy one) in a game of on-line yahtzee to any form of exercise. Nothing like public humiliation to get you motivated, eh?
I did about 8 - 10 miles last week. Nothing so far this week. I think today will be a biking day, if it doesn't rain the whole day.
